On November 10, 2005, Charles W. ‘Pete’ Ferguson, Sr. left this earth to join his loved ones, his precious daughter, Sherry Lynn and granddaughter, Jenny Lynn, who have gone before him to the arms of our Heavenly Father. While we grieve for our loss, we rejoice to know his physical suffering has come to an end.

Pete was born November 4, 1929 in El Dorado, AR to Kydia Franks and Coy Mason Ferguson. He was reared in Springhill, LA and is well remembered as the very musical and talented drum major of the high school band. He worked for IP and around 1957, he transferred to Camden, AR, which became home to him and his family. They were active members of Cullendale Baptist Church.

Pete served our country in the U.S. Navy and it was during this tour of duty that he met his future wife, Jane in Chicago, IL. They shared their lives for 55 years and created many wonderful memories for their children and grandchildren. They moved to North Dakota following retirement; however, his love for the South remained the same and he treasured the times he could return to visit friends and family.

Pete had many hobbies, interests and a unique love for horses. He was a member of the Camden Saddle Club, as well as the Sheriff’s Department Mounted Patrol for several years. Pete, also, was an avid ham radio operator and a member of the Civil Air Patrol.

Pete made a difference in the lives of people and his love for them was evident in his dedication to his Boy Scout Troop and the young people he coached in baseball. He loved to hunt and fish, and his friend and family have many memories of these times he loved.

Services were held for Pete at Victory Church, Camden, AR on November 17, 2006 with burial in the Springhill Cemetery, Springhill, LA under the direction of Proctor Funeral Home in Camden, AR.
