| 70th Annual Springhill High School Football Banquet Was Held Last Night |

The 70th annual Springhill High School football banquet was held February 4, 2008. The banquet is sponsored each year by the Springhill Lions Club. The guest speaker for this year's banquet was Mr. Terry Slack. Mr. Slack is the regional director for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Those in attendance were treated to a meal catered by Mr. Alton Lewis. Several players were recognized with awards. All awards are voted on by players. The team award was given to Jeff Powell. The team award is given to someone who may or may not start. This person is always willing to do whatever it takes to help the team. The co-captain award was given to Walter Aubrey and D'Mekus Cook. This award is given to two people who will represent the team as permanent captains. The scholastic award was awarded to Tyler Covington. This award is given to the player with the highest grade point average. The James Wayne Smith award winner was Walter Aubrey. This award goes to the best lineman. It can be offense or defense. The John David Crow award was received by Keo Frazier. This is given to the person who most exemplifies what a Lumberjack is supposed to be. The Ed Shultz award was presented to D'Mekus Cook. This award is the MVP of the team. All Seniors were also recognized by Coach Pesses during the banquet. |
